I sought out this retro gingham one-piece after seeing it on Rachel Martino, one of my favorite fashion bloggers, and scored it for just $15 from Aerie during their Memorial Day weekend sale online. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it, but I was IN LOVE as soon as I tried it on! I wanted a swimsuit that was more covered up this summer and this was just perfect! It was pin-up inspired, playful and cute and the best part? It was so flattering! And you bet it came with me to my first trip to the beach this summer (in Clearwater, FL, which was gorgeous by the way!).
I felt so comfortable and chic in the suit that I was obsessed with finding similar looks. I didn't want to pay a lot, so at the suggeston of a friend, I ordered some swimsuits from Alibaba.com (Chinese e-commerce site) for the first time. It's a good site for swimsuits on the cheap, although know that you may not always get the best material. The items are also sold by individual sellers so quality can definitely vary. I was willing to take the risk though and luckily ended up quite happy with two of their swimsuits: the Retro Scallop One-Piece and Retro Black & White Retro One-Piece. Although the gingham swimsuit I'm wearing above is no longer available online, I've found some similar options below.
Swimsuit (no longer available from Aerie): Similar Retro Gingham One-Piece from Etsy and Gingham One-Piece from Unique Vintage (on sale now!) | Necklace (old): Similar Interchangeable Pearl Pendant Necklace from Macy's | Towel (in-store buy at Ross): | Similar Flamingo Print Beach Towels from Society6
